Use Q218 Downhill pattern to make skier
or snowboarder placemats
Finished size: 12" x 17". If you are using tree-block
pieces leftover from the throw quilt, skip to step 4. |

Enlarge the block & skier patterns 125%.

Cut 1 medium-light to medium blue rectangle 10" x
13". Cut 1 piece fusible web 9 1/2" x 12 1/2".

Following pattern instructions, trace the block
design on the fusible web, fuse to the back of the blue rectangle. Cut
on the line in continuous line.

For each cut and fused tree-block background piece,
cut 2 white rectangles 10" x 13". Fuse each cut tree-block
piece to a white background. Fuse a silhouette to the block.

Sew 1 3/4" print strips 2 each side of the block.
Sew 1 1/2" print strips (use a different print and/or color) to the
sides of the block.

For each placemat, cut a 16" x 21" piece for the
backing. Layer, quilt, and bind.
