Here..Puppy, Puppy! quilt top measures 36-1/2" square before borders. More puppies could be added to make a larger quilt.

This is a scrap quilt. See cutting instructions for minimum amount of fabric needed for one puppy. Background requires about 1 yd of 40" width material.

 For each of the 36 puppies cut :

v2 - 2" squares of body fabric

v1 - 3 1/2" x 5" rectangle of body fabric

v2 - 2" squares of ear fabric


 

Patch Castles is a fun quilt for an older child.

From background material cut:

v36 - 2" x 6-1/2" rectangles (1 for each puppy)

v36 - 2" squares (1 for each puppy)

v72 - 1-1/4" x  5" rectangles (2 for each puppy)


For seasonally themed. paper-pieced placemats, tablerunners and wall quilts see the Get Set series!

To make the ears for one puppy, place one 2" square of puppy ear fabric at each end of a 2" x 6-1/2" background rectangle. Sew on the diagonal across the middle of the squares as shown. Trim the excess fabric ¼" from the sewing line and press towards ear fabric.

The ears unit should look like this. Repeat for all puppies..  
To make the feet for one puppy, sew one 2" square of puppy body fabric to each side of a 2" square of background fabric. The feet unit should look like this. Sew to the bottom of a 3-1/2" x 5" puppy fabric rectangle. Repeat for all puppies.


Try a paper-pieced Santa, Mrs. Claus,
Elf or Snowman

 

Sew 1-1/4" x 5" background strips to the side of the puppy body.

Sew ears unit to the top of the puppy.

 Draw or embroider faces and tails. See my technique for adding features to quilt blocks.

Arrange puppy blocks and remaining background pieces as shown in puppy quilt picture above  and sew together. Add borders as desired
